Suspension of Vehicle Testing

The following message is was sent last night to all Authorised Testing Facilities about the suspension of vehicle testing, initially for two days, from today. We understand that you need to have the earliest possible notice of this decision by government and have reproduced the communication from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) below.

Dear ATF colleague

Due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, vehicle testing has been postponed for 2 days from tomorrow (Thursday 19 March and Friday 20 March).

We understand that it will be too late for you to contact customers for testing tomorrow morning but please contact those you can and advise them to cancel their test and avoid unnecessary journeys.

We are sorry for the delay in passing this decision on to you and realise that this will cause you difficulty. We know that the annual test is an important part of your business, but as I’m sure you will understand, these are exceptional circumstances.

Due to this decision, all reservation fees for Thursday 19 March and Friday 20 March will be returned. If you have any questions, please contact your Network Business Manager.

We’ll issue further information as we have it available.

Richard Hennessey and Peter Hearn, Directors of Operations, DVSA

FYI: there may be an exemption certificate available, a VTG33, which is valid for up to 3 months for the postponement on MOT’s
